Thanks for sending me to the app Chris. TBH I’ll be happy to pay £2.99 for this so feel free to exclude me from the competition – it seems to do almost everything a Garmin Edge 705 can do, and lots that it can’t do, but at <1% of the price. The thing I like most about it is that it satisfies my belief that this one hardware device can do the work of of many single-function units. PS Can you upload a GPX file to it?

That’s a terrific app, Chris. I bought a Garmin but it was too tough to install and impossible to read in the sun. I love all the information you can get, but would probably use only a fraction myself.  There’s just a lot of things I don’t really want to know. I’ve been just carrying my iPhone in my pocket, but with this I might need to rig some sort of mounting bracket on my trike. Send me a free one, by all means, but if I don’t win I’ll just buy one from the app store. That’s rather self-defeating, isn’t it?

I do enjoy the fact that it all integrates into google maps,  a universal format for everyone to view,  although it does lose a lot of data on the way ( i think). For example the graphical representation of elevation changes, speed and so on.  Another plus is the ability to have “turn by turn directions”,  i, like many of the people i ride with, can not keep track of a queue sheet for the life of me.

Chris – it looks like a great app -  everything that you could want at a great price.  Graphical charting is a great addition.

Holy moly! I never knew this even existed! this is the most awesome software ever out there.  I’ve tried many others but i get bored walking or cycling etc and end up wanting to do other things like twitter etc . Also there are not a lot of other softwares that allow sleep to save battery which on a 3+ hours ride or walk can be really not so cool. Currently I have 3 external battery cases to deal with the problem and about 4 apps, some of which i paid more of.
Now my only problem is “must have now”. Debating waiting to see if i win it or just buy it (which ill probably do anyway, and probably shouldn’t say that).

Oh for those without a mounting bracket yet, look into the slimmer fitted ones (in New Zealand the RAM mount ones are best, everywhere else Amazon has good ones)

This might be what finally gets me to trade in my blackberry for an I@hone!

the Integration with the familliar google maps is great, not to mention having the easy to use interface of the touch screen. All thats left is to find a decent bar mount for a iPhone cradle! :P

Actually, I’ve been using RAM Mounts’ iPhone bar mount and it works really well. Here’s a link to it on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Plastic-Apple-iPhone-Handlebar-Mount/dp/B001HK4URQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1265220500&sr=8-1.

according amazon its only meant for 2g phones.. how does it handle the slightly thicker (but tapering) and wider iphone 3gs?

Kevin, the RAM mount works just fine with my 3G.  Not sure about the 3GS though.

The team at Abvio’s have really nailed this one.  They have thought of everything.  I like the fact that it works with all the devices, has real-time mapping, is able to compare progress against previous outings, that it  allows me to share via Twitter, etc, and allows me to export for other uses.  I think the remote option for starting/stopping the stopwatch is way cool also.  I think runners would enjoy this app as well, since they are just as obsessed with their training as bikers are.  All-in-all, I give this app 5 stars.
Once I win the app, I’ll have more to say from personal experience :>)

I have the oPhone 3GS and the RAM mounts work nicely with mine.

I especially like the real time mapping! I ride my bicycle around my college campus and this would be great! :)
